Chehel Sotoun Palace

Chehel Sotoun ("Forty Columns") is a Safavid palace pavilion set in a garden reflecting pool in Isfahan. The famous porch of slender wooden columns appears doubled in the water, giving the building its name and a distinctive silhouette.

Inside, wall paintings and reception halls recall courtly ceremonies and historical battles of the Safavid age. The palace remains one of the most atmospheric historic sites for visitors exploring Isfahan's royal heritage.
